Scotland international Matt Phillips has signed from Queens Park Rangers for a fee believed to be in the region of £5m.

The former Wycombe and Blackpool winger has signed a four-year contract at Albion and becomes the Baggies’ first summer signing.

Baggies boss Tony Pulis has been a long-standing admirer of Phillips and saw a bid of £10m rejected last January.

But after QPR failed to win promotion back to the Premier League, Pulis is sure the pacy wideman will be keen to showcase his talents.

“We're really pleased to have Matty on board,” he said.

“This is a great chance for him to show everyone he belongs in the top-flight of English football."

Phillips initially represented England Under 19s and Under 20s before switching allegiances to Scotland in 2012. He has gone on to win four caps.

After joining from Blackpool in August 2013, Phillips went on to 94 appearances for the Hoops, scoring 14 times – including twice at the Molineux last season.
