Albion look set to make their first signing of the summer with Craig Gardner expected to make a free transfer to The Hawthorns.
The 27-year-old has been released from Sunderland after three seasons at The Stadium of Light.
The Birmingham born midfielder, who can also play at left back, has formerly played for local rivals Birmingham City and started his career at Aston Villa.
Gardner today arrived at The Hawthorns for a medical and to discuss personal terms.
The midfielder was signed by the Black Cats for £6m from Birmingham City and made 77 starts, plus 23 substitute appearances, scoring 14 goals.
