James Morrison hopes to be fit for Albion’s trip to Sunderland this Saturday (KO 3pm).

The Scotland international missed the Baggies’ 2-1 victory over Liverpool due to a thigh problem but hopes to return to training this week.

Roy Hodgson deployed Simon Cox in the attacking midfield role against the Reds but Michael Appleton expect ‘Mozza’ to return to training and be available for selection against The Black Cats.

"Mozza should be training on Thursday so hopefully he'll be available for selection on Saturday for another big game," said Albion’s No.2.

Appleton also revealed that fellow Scot Graham Dorrans is making “good progress” in his return from injury but would miss the trip to the north-east.

"At the moment we're concentrating on the lads who we know are definitely going to be fit on Saturday,” he added.
