East Stand

The East Stand was built for the start of the 2001/02 season where it replaced the old Rainbow Stand. The cost to build was around £5.25m. IT houses the West Bromwich Albion Club Shop, Ticket Office (moved in 2002) and Platinum Suites for Executive boxes and Management.

The first game to be played in the brand new East Stand was a 1-0 defeat in the hands to Grimsby Town to make the ground fully enclosed.  A giant TV Screen was added in the 2002/03 season in the Smethwick End corner, this made the Hawthorns the first stadium to have big screens in wide screen format.  Later on in the 2001/02 season the Baggies managed to gain promotion to the Premiership after clawing back a 11 point gap on rivals Wolves.
