Albion and Celtic clash over Burke

Albion and Celtic have entered into a bizarre war of words over Oliver Burke.

The Baggies sent Burke on-loan to Parkhead in January under former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.

Scotland international Burke did well under Rodgers but hardly featured after Neil Lennon took over.

When asked if there was any possibility that Burke could return to Celtic, Albion's Luke Dowling dismissed the option claiming the Baggies were unhappy with treatment of Burke.

Celtic then issued a formal statement on their website claiming Dowling's comments were "ridiculous and completely inaccurate." Neil Lennon then said in a separate interview that Burke had been "treated too well" at times during his time with the Scottish champions.

Burke, who has been given extra time off in the summer, is now set to rejoin the Baggies squad for pre-season training. He made a total of 19 apperances for Celtic, scoring four times.
