Tony Mowbray has revealed he's pleased with his players' progress this term - using Chris Brunt as a shining example.

The Northern Irish international has earned rave reviews since his performances after Christmas and now tops the Baggies' scoring charts along with Roman Bednar with six goals.

Brunt has been shifted from his usual left-wing berth to the opposite flank as Mowbray aims to get the best out of his young players. The move seems to have paid off with the former Sheffield Wednesday man scoring three times in two games.

"I try to improve players and Chris Brunt is an example," Tony Mowbray said.

"He scored two at the weekend so he is higher profile but Chris has still got a long way to go in his development.

"He is an international footballer but I see him now growing into the role we are asking of him.

"He's got more of a goal threat and maybe that's because he has changed wings to get him coming inside onto his left foot.

"I feel his involvement in the game is better than it was.

"I think Chris is a player with such unbelievable natural talent that I don't think he has ever had to work too much at it.

"But I feel now he is incorporating his natural talent into the framework of the team.

"He is benefitting from it and so is the team.

"I could talk about every player and what we are trying to do with them in the framework of the team.

"I feel we are giving them a structure to improve as footballers and play at any level in any type of team."
