Albion get injury boost

Roberto Di Matteo has been given an injury boost with the news that Jerome Thomas, Luke Moore and Youssouf Mulumbu have all returned to training following injury and should be fit to face Queens Park Rangers on Monday (KO 19.45).

The absence of Thomas, who missed the last two games against Derby and Cardiff, and Moore, who was absent from Tuesday’s defeat, plus Youssouf Mulumbu limping off with a twisted knee, saw Albion’s squad down to the bare bones ahead of the QPR clash.

However the trio were a welcome addition to training with Di Matteo hoping all three suffer no further setbacks.

“Youssouf is fine," the Italian revealed.

"He had some treatment and trained today.

"Luke and Jerome will be training with us and hopefully they'll be available for selection on Monday.

"On Tuesday night we didn't have too many options or too many ways of changing the game - that's life."

The good news on the injury front continues with the news that long term victim James Morrison will finally start some sort of light training next week after being out for eight months with an infected blister.

"The scarring of his wound is progressing very well," the Baggies boss continued.

"Hopefully he'll start doing some fitness work next week.

"He can get trainers on now to be able to run.

"He hasn't been able to do anything since April.

"I think it has been very frustrating for him and for us.

"We're looking forward to having him back.

"Let's look at the bright side.

"Hopefully he can start back next week - and that's the closest we've ever been with him.

"Then we'll have a better idea on a comeback date for him."
