Darren Moore's official first game in charge of Albion ended in a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Bolton Wanderers.

The Baggies had plenty of the ball but lacked any creativity or imagination in front of a sell out Hawthorns crowd.

Moore gave debuts to Sam Johnson, Kyle Bartley and Harvey Barnes. But it was Bolton who took the lead against the run of play when Ahmed Hegazi misjudged a cross and Josh Magennis headed in from close range.

Loan signing Harvey Barnes capped an impressive debut with a wonderful equaliser curling home a left-footed effort into the top corner just before the break.

Albion looked the more threatening in the second half but failed to create any clear cut target with forwards Jay Rodriguez and Hal Robson Kanu out of sorts.

After Hegazi had missed Albion's best chance from a corner, it was Bolton's turn to hit Albion from a set piece. David Wheater headed down and Yanic Wildschut turned home from close range in the final minute.

Hegazi had another chance to equalise at the death but his header cannoned back off the bar as Albion slipped to a disappointing defeat.
