Steve Clarke has been given a major boost ahead of this weekend’s derby clash with Aston Villa with the news that Claudio Yacob is in contention for a recall.

Argentinean international Yacob has missed the last eight games due to a hamstring injury.

But the midfielder is now fit to play after recovering from an earlier setback to the delight of assistant manager Kevin Keen.

“He’s been a really key player and, let’s be honest, we’ve missed him,” said Keen.

“He’s got a really big role in the team and earlier in the season we saw how important it was.

“He has a little bit of a setback so they slowed down his recovery so we’ve taken it slowly this time and we’re hopeful that he’s close, if not for this weekend, for the week after.”
