Albion's managerial search continues

The search for Pepe Mel’s successor is now into the third week and looks set to continue for at least another seven days.

Albion’s hierarchy have only just returned from their holidays and have scheduled in interviews this week after creating a shortlist of several candidates.

But one of those will not be former Swansea boss Michael Laudrup.

The Dane told the newspaper Politiken that he wanted to manage at the highest level after coaching the Swans in England and Malaga and Granada in La Liga.

"I've spoken with clubs in England and Spain,” he said.

“I don't want to seem arrogant now, because that's not the way I am, but they're teams of a level I've already experienced.

"I've already tested myself with small clubs in top leagues: Getafe and Mallorca in La Liga, Swansea City in the Premier League, so I see no reason to repeat that.

"That leaves me with a couple of options. Either I wait for any offers from a big club, or accept approaches I've received from clubs outside Europe.

"I could go anywhere. Right now I feel that I want a job where I can look upwards in the table, not downwards. If that job doesn't come though, and right now I don't think it will, I may have to wait a couple of years."
