Baggies Join Race For Carrick

With news that the Hammers midfielders proposed move to Arsenal seems to have fallen through Albion boss Gary Megson has confirmed that Carrick is a player that the Baggies have enquired about over the summer months.

"We have spent a bit of money and there's some finance available," he told BBC Radio Five Live.

"We have been in for Michael Carrick and are still looking for players to make us stronger and better.

"We have got one or two irons in the fire."

Portsmouth look favourites to sign Carrick with Everton also confirming their interest.
