West Brom have lodged an appeal with the FA over the sending off of Paul Robinson during the 2-1 defeat to Sunderland on Saturday. The club believe referee Dermot Gallagher was wrong to show Robinson the red card in the 87th minute for an alleged professional foul on Liam Miller. Albion have until 13:00 today(Tuesday) to produce video evidence which supports their appeal before the FA decide whether there is a case for wrongful dismissal on Wednesday.
Baggies director and secretary John Evans told the club's official website: "Paul is adamant there was no contact and having viewed the video I don't believe the evidence is there to show there was contact. "But unless the FA actually takes the same view there is the possibility the dismissal will stand. If there is any question of doubt in their minds it is unlikely they will overrule the referee."
