Baggies sign internationals on loan

Albion have signed England international Daniel Sturridge and Egyptian defender Ali Gabr until the end of the season. 

Liverpool ace Sturridge returns to his hometown club for the remainder of the campaign as he looks to boost his claim for a World Cup spot for England. 

29-year-old Gabr joins with a view to permanent deal from Zamalek FC after impressing for his nation at the recent African Cup of Nations, alongside fellow countryman Ahmed Hegazi. 

Baggies boss Alan Pardew is delighted to have strenghthen his squad but it is the capture of Sturridge that he believes to be a real coup. 

“I hope our fans can understand that we are fighting to stay in the Premier League, not just on the pitch but in the market place as well,” said Pardew.
 
“This is a big coup for us and I speak for my staff and my players and say ‘thank you’ to Daniel for agreeing to assist us in League and Cup.
 
“He has fantastic talent and will strengthen our ambitions on both fronts.”
