West Brom are sweating on the fitness of winger James Morrison after he was carried off with a knee injury in the 4-0 win at Coventry. The good news, however, is that veteran striker Kevin Phillips could be back in a month despite fears that his season was over. Mowbray said: "He's going for a scan. He got his studs caught in the grass and twisted his knee. It looks like it could be medial ligament damage, which would keep him out for four to six weeks. But we'll have to wait and see."

Phillips, meanwhile, also suffered a knee injury in the previous match against Sheffield Wednesday, leading to speculation that his campaign and indeed career could be over. But Mowbray poured cold water on the reports, saying that he could be back before the Christmas schedule. "Contrary to some scaremongering, I'm very hopeful Kevin will be out there playing for us in four weeks," the Baggies boss told the club website. Phillips has scored 10 goals in 12 games so far this season for West Brom.
