Barry Ferguson a Baggie?

Albion are today being linked to former Scotland and Rangers captain Barry Ferguson.  The 31-year-old, whose career at Rangers looks set to be over after a late night binge whilst on international duty, was reportedly at The Hawthorns on Sunday to witness Albion get relegated back to The Championship.

It’s reported that Ferguson would be keen on a move to the Midlands, although the club are playing down suggestions that the former Blackburn Rovers man had been given a brief tour of the facilities.

Rangers look set to offload Ferguson in the summer after recent disciplinary issues and the need to cut costs at Ibrox; however wages could be a problem with the midfielder reportedly on £30,000 a week – considerably more than Albion’s highest earner after relegation imposed a reduction in salaries.

Ferguson is the second player north of the border to be linked with a move to Albion following stories the Baggies were chasing Hibs striker, Steven Fletcher.
