Roman Bednar has publically apologised over his three month ban after a drugs related incident.  The striker was allegedly caught purchasing class A drugs by an undercover News of the World reporter back in May and only returned to first-team matters on Monday after being banned by the FA.

The 26-year-old is now determined to repay all the support and faith shown in him during his exile and is hoping to return to first-team action in as little as two weeks.  Bednar readily admits he’s let a lot of people down but has vowed to repay them with performances on the pitch.

“It hasn't been an easy time for me so I'm really happy to be back," the former Hearts striker admitted.

"I know what I've done.

"I've made a stupid mistake and I deeply regret what's happened.

"I've let down the supporters - not just a little bit but very, very much.

"I just hope everybody realises that people do make mistakes.

"I'm back now and ready to show everyone that it was just a mistake.

"All I'm doing is focussing on my football.

"As the saying goes, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and I aim to learn from this experience."

The popular striker continued: "I've had lots of support, starting with my family and friends and my agents, Sport Invest.

"The club have also been unbelievable. They've really stood by me.

"The fans I've met have been great and I hope when I play at the stadium again everything will be okay.

"Everybody has supported me.

"I'm now ready to fight and show everybody how grateful I am for their support."
