Bednar returns after back-dated ban

Roman Bednar’s exile for first-team matters is set to end on Monday when the Czech Republic international’s three month ban ends.  Although issued this afternoon (Wednesday), Bednar has already served the majority of his ban after being suspended since early May.

The return of the 26-year-old is a welcome return for new head coach Roberto Di Matteo who had been without the striker after allegedly being caught buying drugs from an undercover News of the World reporter.

Bednar was given a police caution, and as a result after breaching FA Rule E25 for the 'possession and use of a Prohibited Substance', the former Hearts man was handed the back-dated ban.

After the decision the club will now make their own internal investigations into the allegations – although any further suspension is unlikely after being granted a squad number at the start of the season.
