Roy Hodgson will take his first team squad on a tour of North America to prepare for next season’s Barclay’s Premier League.

Albion will be stateside for 12 days in total and play MLS opposition San Jose Earthquakes and Portland Timbers.

The Baggies will be based near Santa Barbara for nine days with the ground set to shake when they play the Earthquakes at the Buck Shaw Stadium on Tuesday 12th July (KO 7.30pm).

They will then travel to Portland, Oregan, for three days before facing the Timbers at the JELD-WEN on Wednesday 20th July (KO 8pm).

Andy Marriott, Assistant Sporting and Technical Director, says the two fixtures will provide a good test for Roy Hodgson’s men.

“The two teams we will be facing are good MLS sides who will be in the middle of their season when we play them,” he said.

“They promise to be competitive games against teams who play a British style of football, which will be a good way to kick off our pre-season fixtures.

“The weather over there in July will also offer a good climate to train and play in.”
