Brunt and Teixeria in contention for FA Cup tie

Albion's hectic Christmas period, playing four games in ten days, has opened the door for Tony Mowbray's squad members to face Charlton this Saturday (KO 3pm) with Northern Ireland midfielder Chris Brunt and Portuguese magician Felipe Teixeria firmly in the boss' thoughts.

The third-round clash comes on the back of a mixed set of results for the Baggies with home victories over Bristol City and Scunthorpe United and away-day defeats at the hands of Stoke City and Ipswich Town.
However the FA Cup tie at The Valley comes only 21 days after Albion beat their hosts 4-2 at The Hawthorns with goals from Roman Bednar, Kevin Phillips and a brace from Zoltan Gera sent the Baggies top for the first time this season.

"There's more than a fair chance the likes of Teixeria and Brunt will get a run-out," boss Tony Mowbray said.

"I don't see that as weakening the team whatsoever.

"It makes commonsense really.

"The players have played a lot of games over a short period of time and the ones that haven't as much are chomping at the bit.

"They will probably get the opportunity to go and impress against Charlton.

"One or two players missed training today and there are a few niggles and knocks.

"We'll have to wait and see.

"Whatever changes we make, the team will not be weakened.

"We will pick a team going there to win."
