Northern Ireland international midfielder Chris Brunt has signed a new and improved contract to extend his stay in the Black Country.  The left-footed ace signed for £3 million pound from Sheffield Wednesday two years ago and has been rewarded with his fine start to the season and last season’s exploits.

The 24-year-old finished Albion’s leading scorer last term finding the net a respectable eight times from midfield.  Brunt, who scored the final goal of the Baggies championship winning season at QPR, has already opened his account this season scoring the winner against Peterborough.

“It's nice to be rewarded for the progress I've made here and I'm delighted to have signed a new contract," said the midfielder.

"I've enjoyed my time here. It's been great for my career and I feel it's been relatively successful.

"Winning the title was a terrific experience and although last season ended in relegation, on a personal level, I still enjoyed my first season in the Premier League.

"The fans have made me feel really welcome from day one and I'm looking forward to making further progress this season and hopefully getting back up.

"We've made a good start and I'm really enjoying working under the new coaching staff."
