"The Kevin Campbell deal is very close to being done," said Albion boss Bryan Robson.
"There is no transfer fee and personal terms have to be finalised.
"Then he will have to have a medical which I don't foresee being a problem and I'm optimistic he will be our player by Tuesday.
"He's coming for 18 months so even if we get relegated he is willing to stay and help us get promoted.
"But I'm hoping he can help to keep us in the Premiership and he will be a solid signing who has got vast experience and a good goal scoring record throughout his career."
