Marek Cech is hoping to keep his place in the starting XI after the return to full training of Joe Mattock.  The England Under-21 international defender has been preferred to Cech when fit this term however the former Porto man impressed in a more defensive role in his last two appearances for the Baggies.

Despite favoured in a more offensive role by Roberto Di Matteo, the Baggies boss had no hesitation in calling upon the Slovakian international when Mattock was stretched off with a foot injury against Watford.  With Mattock still sidelined for the trip to Wednesday, Cech again filled the left-back slot with the former Porto man hoping to retain his position against Derby on Saturday (KO 3pm).

"I am happy that I played the whole game and we won the game 4-0," said the South African bound Cech.

"It was great that we didn't concede a goal and the defence did well.

"The game worked out how we wanted it to and I am happy with the result.

"We beat Bristol City 4-1 and now we have beaten Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 so, for sure, our confidence is high.

"But we need to keep the same level we showed in the last game and hope we continue like this.

"We will see how it is in the next game but getting a clean-sheet was good for every player on the pitch.

"I enjoyed being in defence.

"I had more tasks in defence than in offence especially as it was an away game, because we didn't attack as much as we do at home.

"I enjoyed it because every time I play I enjoy it."
