"Neil has already been offered a new contract and he has done really well for us in three or four positions," assistant boss Nigel Pearson has said.
"Neil has showed how versatile he can be and he has been proving that he can perform well at centre-half since going back there.
"Neil is a good professional, someone who works hard at his game, and is prepared to play wherever the manager wants him to play."
