Albion have today dismissed reports linking them with an official bid for Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford. BBC Leeds and BBC WM both claimed the Baggies had made a ‘substantial bid’ for the 25-year-old however Albion admit they’ve only made tentative enquiries regarding the hot-shot.
Beckford, who is now in the last year of his contract, was transfer listed earlier in the summer after rejecting a new deal at Elland Road. The former non-league player scored 34 goals last season helping Leeds reach the play-off semi finals.
The Baggies pulled out of a £1.4 million pound deal to sign Chilean defender Gonzalo Jara last night after identifying new areas of the squad to strengthen.
