Cox finds his feet

Simon Cox admits he finally feels at home in the Championship after his summer switch from League One outfit Swindon Town.  The 22-year-old scored his first league goal for the Baggies against Watford last Saturday after a frustrating first few months at The Hawthorns.

The former Reading man, who scored 32 times for the Robins last term, admitted taking time adjusting to the demands of Championship football but now feels at ease playing in front of large crowds in Europe’s fourth most attended division.

"The first game I started was the Plymouth one and I was in awe of the surroundings and getting my first start.

"I think the fact it was my first start and I was playing in front of 20,000 people got to me.

"You go from Reading reserves and 200 people watching, then Swindon and 7,000 people and lots of empty seats to a big club where there are no empty seats, crowds cheering and jeering.

"I think I got lost in that and overwhelmed.

"On Saturday I forgot all about that and it went well for me so I was happy.

"It's what it's about, playing football in front of big crowds and good teams, and not being fazed."
