Defensive duo expected to leave

Claudio Yacob and Craig Dawson could be heading out of The Hawthorns after Albion received bids for the two.

An unnammed European club has submitted an offer for Argentian midfielder Yacob, whilst newly promoted Burnley have returned with an offer in the region of £2m for defender Dawson.

Yacob joined the Baggies from Racing Club on a free transfer in 2012. The combative midfielder was an instant hit in his first season at the club but injuries and a lack of form have seen him struggle for first team opportunities.

Defender Dawson joined Albion from Rochdale three seasons ago but has only made 21 appearances. The former England Under-21 defender has struggled to break into Albion's first team and now has to compete with recent signing Joleon Lescott for a starting place.

If Yacob were to leave, Albion are expected to step up their interest in Southampton midfielder Jack Cork. New arrivals Andre Wisdom and Chris Baird could provide cover in central defence in Dawson's absence.
