Meanwhile reports of a possible partnership of former Baggies favourite Bryan Robson and ex-Newcastle and England boss Sir Bobby Robson taking over the reigns have been quashed by Bryan Robson, who is keen to take on the role left vacant by Gary Megsons sacking earlier this week.
"I shall be applying. It's a job I'm interested in," he said.
"I've heard a rumour about me and Sir Bobby but I can assure you I have not spoken to him."
