Albion captain Jonathan Greening has completed his move to Premier League side Fulham after joining on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.

The two clubs had been discussing a deal for a number of weeks with Albion rejecting three offers for the former Manchester United and Middlesbrough man.  However a deal for the influential skipper has been agreed with the 30-year-old playing more than 200 times in five years at The Hawthorns.

The loan deal is similar to that which took Paul Robinson to Bolton to avoid tax issues.

“We have made strenuous efforts all summer to persuade Jonathan to sign a new long-term contract and in fact held more talks with him as recently as this week,” said Albion chairman Jeremy Peace.

"As always, Jonathan has been a model professional ever since Fulham first lodged their interest a month ago.

"We have stressed all along that we are not under any financial pressure to sell our best players and that no-one would leave unless it is on our terms.

"The board and coaching staff firmly believe this is the right deal for the club and we wish Jonathan all the best at Fulham."
