Gonzalo Jara has told how he’s enjoying life in England after a whirlwind four months following his switch from his homeland.  The Chilean ace arrived from Colo Colo for a bargain £1.4 million and has quickly become a firm fans’ favourite.

The versatile 24-year-old revealed how he chose England and Albion over a number of other opportunities and hopes he and his family can fully settle into Black Country life in the coming months.

“When I was in Chile I had various opportunities to play in several countries,” said Jara.

"I chose to come to Europe, and principally to come to England, because of the type of football they play here.

"I was aware that football is very serious and it's one of the best places in the world to play.

"I came to Albion because I was aware of the type of football they play.

"As long as I am happy here and we're playing good football and, importantly, my family settle down I see a very promising future for me.

"I'm very happy here. I'm happy at the club and happy in the area.

"The biggest challenge at the moment is my family adapting to their situation."

Jara has quickly adapted to life in the Championship with a number of eye-catching performances initially along the back-four before establishing himself in Roberto Di Matteo’s midfield.

"Before I came here I was a bit worried about the type of football and the fact it would be a different style to what I was used to," the international added.

"But playing on a regular basis in the first team has helped me a lot."
