Jara back on the radar

Gonzalo Jara could once again be heading for The Hawthorns after Albion reopened talks with the 23-year-old’s club, Colo Colo.

It was reported Albion had signed the international defender earlier in the month for £1.6 million but the deal was shelved after Roberto Di Matteo switched his attentions to different targets.

However, with Albion short on numbers in defence, the Baggies have reopened discussions with the Chilean outfit with the hope the existing deal can be resurrected once again.   Jara was again watched by Albion officials over the weekend and is now expected to fly to England to complete his medical.

“There have been more advanced conversations,” said Luis Baquedano from Colo Colo.

"They have found fresh finances and asked to speak to us again, without modifying the conditions that were in place during the last conversations.

"We do not want to start the process of replacing him but we have to take into account the future of the player, because he wants to go out for what is a tremendous footballing and financial opportunity.

"He will now go to England."
