Jewell speaks to lawyers after Albion exit

Paul Jewell dramatically left the club last night after only seven days as Assistant Head Coach.

Jewell cut short his time at The Hawthorns over an alleged payment disagreement in his contract and indicated he’s ready to take legal action against the club.

However, club officials have today played down any issues surrounding Jewell’s contract.

In an official statement yesterday, the club said the former Wigan and Derby boss would "not be continuing his recent assistance on a more formal basis."

It is believed that although a contract was agreed with Jewell, it was never signed.

However, his departure is thought to be linked to Gerry Francis’ appointment. Francis was last night confirmed as part of Tony Pulis’ new look backroom team.

“Gerry and I have worked well together at both Stoke and Crystal Palace and it was always part of my plan for him to join me at Albion,” said Pulis.

“I value his insight and experience of the very highest levels of our game and I’m delighted that he is now on board. We have an agreement that we have employed in the past and suits us both.”
