Megson Targets His Man

The Baggies manager is desperate to add new faces to his squad when the transfer window reopens and a new striker is believed to be top of his shopping list having already been linked with a move for Crewe's Rob Hulse.

However, Megson is now understood to have turned his attentions to former England Under-21 hitman Christie and watched him score Derby's opening goal in their 3-2 win over the Dons.

The £5m-rated former Nuneaton Borough star is hotly tipped to lead the Pride Park exodus in January as the Rams seek to pay off debts amounting to around £30m and Megson believes he could get Christie for a cut-price £3m.

Scott Dobie, Lee Hughes, Danny Dichio and Bob Taylor have all failed to make an impact this term and Christie could well be the man to forge a prolific partnership with Roberts.
