Mel ready to unleash exciting Albion

Pepe Mel insists Albion’s game against Everton will begin a new era for the Baggies.

Tonight’s game against Roberto Martinez’s men is not only Mel’s first game in charge but also an opportunity to implement his new playing style.

The former Real Betis coach wants the Baggies to play a possession-based approach with his forwards pressing the ball higher up the pitch.

Mel, who only formally took charge of Albion a week ago, realises that his troops have only had a few days on the training pitch but hopes fans turning up at The Hawthorns will witness an improvement.

"It's still very soon, but it is something that will be noticeable," the Spaniard said.

"Previously very good work has been done. It's not a case of doing a better job or worse job, it's doing a different job."
