A number of Coca Cola Championship clubs have been sniffing around the Baggies centre-back as he has struggled to hold down a regular first team place in Gary Megsons side this season but the Baggies boss has rubished reports that he could be about to depart the Hawthorns.
''There has been a lot of interest for Darren from Championship clubs but that is to be expected,'' Megson told Sky Sports.
''He knows exactly what is needed to get out of this division and that is why managers are after him.
''But I want him because I know their will be a time when we need him.''
