Mowbray cool on Trejo

Tony Mowbray has admitted he did enquire about the possibility of signing Real Mallorca striker, Oscar Trejo, in the summer. Reports at the time suggested that Trejo, defender Nunes and Borja Valero could all be heading for The Hawthorns in a £10 million pound swoop with the Valero transfer the only one which materialised.

However Mowbray has now publicly revealed the Baggies did contact Mallorca but the 20-year old Argentinean is not top of his January transfer list.

"Trejo is someone we were connected with and we made enquiries about," the Albion chief said.

"As far as I know, I don't think he is getting a game with Real Mallorca at the moment.

"I'm not sitting here thinking 'wow, he's someone we need to go and get in for January'.

"That's not the case.

"But I'm not going to deny he was a player we looked at and was someone we could potentially bring in."
