Mowbray: Exciting times for Albion

Tony Mowbray says West Brom fans should be "excited" about the future of the club - and has fired a warning to any wantaway players. The former Hibernian boss is preparing for his first full campaign in charge at The Hawthorns, after replacing the sacked Bryan Robson last season. Mowbray is keen to put his own stamp on the club and has already recruited striker Craig Beattie and defender Shelton Martis. Diomansy Kamara is widely expected to join Fulham in the next fortnight, while Curtis Davies has had a transfer request rejected. Jason Koumas has also been linked with a move to the Premier League - but admits he is happy to stay at The Hawthorns if a concrete bid is not accepted by the Baggies. Davies had been linked with Tottenham, who on Thursday splashed out around £8million on French centre-back Younes Kaboul, but Mowbray and chairman Jeremy Peace insist they will only sell their prize assets for 'head-turning' money.
Mowbray is desperate to go one step further next season after losing to Derby in the Championship play-off final. In a message to the fans he said: "I would be excited about it all, rather than worrying about it. I want people who want to play for our club, who want to be proud to play for the supporters and their team-mates. I want to build a club everyone will be proud of. The out-goings? Let's wait and see. I want to build a club everyone will be proud of. I think every manager wants to create his own team and it takes time to do that. You hope that you have those players when you come to a club and that they share your philosophies. If people don't want to be here then I'll try and facilitate something for them."
Mowbray hinted that he felt some of Albion's troops got carried away with their 'star status' last season - and forgot to put the work in where it mattered most - on the pitch.
He added in the Birmingham Post: "There was a perception that we had these top top players, with big names but results have to suggest that. But top players win, top players achieve, top players are in the Premier League at a high level."
