Mowbray fearful of front-two

Albion boss Tony Mowbray has warned his defenders to be at the top of their game when the face Sunderland front-pair, Kenwyne Jones and Djibril Cisse, at The Hawthorns tomorrow (KO 3pm).

Mowbray, a former central defender himself, saw the two terrorise the Baggies' backline back in December during the heavy 4-0 defeat.

Now, with Mowbray looking to readdress the demoralising defeat, the Albion chief has indicated that both Sunderland strikers must be kept quiet if any points are to obtained against the Black Cats.

"The Premier League is full of big stars and players that can hurt you. That's not an excuse, it's a fact," Mowbray explained.

"Sunderland's real strength is their front two.

"Steed Malbranque has had a great career and is a top, top player.

"Our fans know all about Kieran Richardson and add to that Andy Reid and Carlos Edwards.

"There is also Grant Leadbitter and Dean Whitehead, while Anton Ferdinand is an £8million centre-half, so they've got some pretty good footballers playing for them."
