Tony Mowbray has told his players to place their thoughts firmly on Saturday's clash against Championship rivals Cardiff after last night's dramatic penalty shootout. Roman Bednar scored the deciding penalty after the Baggies were forced into extra-time after squandering a 2-0 lead. Albion have now just four days to prepare for the visit of Cardiff, who will have enjoyed a seven-day break between games.

However Mowbray will be not be using tiredness as an excuse for any adverse performances after insisting his men must rest before Saturday's fixture (KO 3pm)

"Let's hope we don't feel the impact of extra-time and penalties because we've got an important game against Cardiff," Mowbray said.

"There can be no excuses on Saturday about tiredness or anything else.

"It is important we start our preparations now for what will be a huge game.

"I don't want the players out shopping with their missus or walking around the town.

"They need to rest up - but the players know that.

"They are all aware of our targets and goal.

"We've got 19 huge games left in the league to get as many points as we can to try and take us to where we want to be."
