Baggies boss Tony Mowbray has quashed newspaper reports linking Albion for a move for former target and Lens striker, Aruna Dindane, insisting the injured hitman is just one of many names being considered.

Former bosses Gary Megson and Bryan Robson were also reported fans of the 28-year-old Ivory Coast international , who has netted 14 times in 40 international appearances, however Mowbray has played down the link as pure speculation and gossip.

"We have recruitment meetings and discuss lots of players and his name has been mentioned. I can say categorically there has been no contact with his football club or with the player," Mowbray said.

"He is a footballer who has been mentioned, along with 20 other footballers. He has been out for eight months with a cruciate ligament injury and I honestly don't know where he is at with his recovery.

"I'm not going to pretend I don't know anything about him but at this moment he is a long shot."
