Mowbray sticks to his guns

Tony Mowbray has warned any future signings that the club will not break their rigid wage structure to secure their signature. So far Albion have only added Graham Dorrans, Scott Carson, Mario Cech and Gianni Zuiverloon to last season's squad with Mowbray keen to add new faces before the trip to Arsenal on August 16th.

"I would hope there will be a few more coming in before the season starts - three, four, five, who knows?" Mowbray revealed.

"But sometimes the expectations from players' advisors are way beyond where we can go.

"That's fine by me. We've got a wage structure at West Brom and the players all understand that. It's a philosophy I try to have and it won't be broken.

"But the search for new players is continuing. There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes. Some targets get pretty close to coming to fruition and then disappear.

"On the other hand, we continue to get closer to the finish line with other targets.

"I would like a few more bodies in, but they have to be of the right quality. If you can't get the right quality you just have to keep going."

Mowbray continued: "For me by the end of this window, hopefully we've got a squad together that can compete for the first three or four months of the season and do okay.

"If we need to do anything in January, hopefully we are in a position where we can continue to strengthen which we must do.

"Hopefully the bigger picture is we do well this year and this time next season we are adding again and continually improving."
