A day after Albion No.1 Dean Kiely signed a one-year contract extension the Baggies have reportedly lodged a fresh bid with Czech club Viktoria Plzen for star stopper Michal Danek.

Albion
had initially requested a loan deal for the 24-year-old which had been refused and have now made an undisclosed bid for the trialist who trained with the Baggies earlier in the month.

Viktoria Plzen have held lengthy talks with Danek and will decide within the next 48 hours whether to accept the bid. Danek's agent, Ondrej Chovanec, has said that Albion have made a 'significant' offer and his client was 'very excited' at the prospect of joining the Championship leaders. However, Tony Mowbray played down reports choosing to focus on the players already at the club.

"We're not worried because we have goalkeepers at the club and we're forever trying to improve every position if we can and create competition," the Albion boss said.

"If it doesn't happen then it's not the end of the world or a crisis. If anything does develop I would imagine it'll develop early this week."
