With the Baggies down to ten men following Darren Moore's sending off, the Polish keeper was simply outstanding in protecting the Albion lead with some stunning saves - the best in stoppage time from former Baggies striker Jason Roberts.

"It was fantastic but when you are down to ten men you expect players to be brave and he was brave," Pearson said after the game at the JJB Stadium.

"We are unhappy at the first booking before Moore was sent off but I'm not going to get into discussing the referee's decisions.

"We had to make a tactical decision and that's why we took Nathan off but you have to make these decisions and the team has to accept it.

"We have to start stringing wins together. It's no good picking up three points today and not being able to build on it but I thought we were well worth our victory.

"Wigan have done amazingly well so far this season and they are where they are on merit but we matched them today and we fully deserved the win."
