Phillips hopeful for Burnley encounter

Albion could be boosted with the return of Kevin Phillips for the visit of high-flying Burnley after Tony Mowbray revealed the striker should be fit for Saturday's fixture (KO 3pm).

Phillips was sorely missed as Albion's disastrous run of form continued on Preston soil as the division's leading scorer was forced to sit out the trip with a calf strain picked up against Peterborough in the FA Cup.

"Kevin has a got a calf strain and should be okay in a few days," Mowbray said.

"We didn't want to make it any worse tonight and lose him for weeks.

"It was wise he didn't play.

"He's now got a chance of playing on Saturday."
