Players behind under-fire Irvine

Club captain Chris Brunt insists Albion’s poor form has nothing to do with under-fire Head Coach Alan Irvine.

Brunt says the blame should be placed solely at the feet of Albion’s players after a number of below-par performances.

“I think everyone will tell you they’re 100% behind the manager. He’s a good coach, he leaves no stone unturned,” said Brunt.

“We do everything from Monday to Friday to prepare for the game at the weekend but over the last few weeks the performances on the pitch haven’t been good enough and we haven’t done our jobs properly.

Brunt’s comments were echoed by his teammates Craig Gardner and Ben Foster.

Gardner said that Irvine ‘unbelievable’ during his time at the club with Foster adding the Scot had been a ‘breathe of fresh air’.

“We all really, really do get on well with Alan. He is a fantastic guy, he’s a fantastic coach,” said the England international.

“Everything is geared up perfectly for the weekend.

“I think we need to take a look at ourselves more than anything.”
