Positive news on injured trio

Albion’s assistant manager Eddie Newton has revealed Neil Clement, James Morrison and Ishmael Miller are all making good progress in their return to first-team action.  Miller and Clement have both been sidelined with serious knee injuries and Morrison has been suffered complications with an infected blister since May.

Miller, who suffered his initial cruciate ligament injury back in December, had hoped to return to pre-season training at the start of July.  However a major setback saw the powerhouse undergo the surgeon’s knife for a second time.  The former Man City man is now making excellent progress and has set a date for his return – which both Newton and Miller have refused to reveal.

“Ishmael’s pushing heavy weights,” said Newton.

“His mind is very focused and he has a great belief that he’ll come back and enhance the side.

“He’s set a date, he’s focused on making that date – which we won’t tell anyone about – and we’re confident he’ll get there.”

Newton, who was forced to retire following the injury suffered by Neil Clement, has revealed Albion’s longest serving player is being eased back into training after 13 months out.

“Clem has finished his base running which is good news,” Newton continued.

“We’re bringing him in and bringing him out and will try and look after him as much as possible but equally pushing him when we need to.

“The part of his knee is still hardening which causes him pain occasionally.

“But it’s going well for him at the moment, as long as we don’t rush him or it’ll be another seven months if things go wrong again.

“I retired with the same injury so I know what he’s going through. I’m trying to help him because it’s hard to be patient.”
