Baggies boss Tony Pulis admitted everything went to plan as Albion started the 2017/18 season with a win against Bournemouth.

Pulis gave full league debuts to new signing Jay Rodriguez and Ahmed Hegazi, with youngster Rakeem Harper also stepping off the bench to make his appearnce in Albion colours.

It was Hegazi who stole the headlines when the giant Egyptian rose to head home Chris Brunt's pin point free kick just after the half hour mark.

“We knew what Bournemouth were going to do and in the second half they did it – they moved the ball around trying to drag players out of their pockets where they hope to hurt you," said Pulis.

“We had worked hard all week preparing for that and I was delighted with the concentration of the players for not letting that happen.”
