Pulis: We were well beaten

Tony Pulis had no excuses after watching his side get brushed aside 3-0 against Southampton.

The Baggies were behind as early as the fifth minute when James Ward-Prowse curled home a free kick from 20 yards.

The young England midfielder doubled his tally for the afternoon 15 minutes later when he converted from the spot after Craig Dawson’s clumsy challenge.

Albion rallied briefly after the break but fell further behind when Desan Tadic fired home from close range.

Pulis admitted the Baggies were below par at St. Mary’s and were well beaten by the Saints during a one-sided contest.

“It was a bad day in the office,” Pulis admitted.

“Southampton were the better side and deserved to win.

“We were flat, lacked sparkle but it would be interesting to see how many of the sides who played away for the second time in a week managed to win their second game.

But that takes nothing away from Southampton, who deserved the victory.”
