Albion were soundly beaten by Everton in the Premier League's race for 7th position.

Goals from Kevin Mirallas, Morgan Schneiderlin and Romelu Lukaku easily saw of Tony Pulis' much change side.

Here's what the press had to say about Albion's defeat. Click on the link to read the full report.

Everton ran out comfortable winners against toothless West Brom to open up a seemingly unassailable seven-point gap.

First half goals from Kevin Mirallas and Morgan Schneiderlin put the hosts in the box seat.

Former Albion striker Romelu Lukaku wrapped up the win eight minutes from time.

Back-to-back defeats have surely now put paid to West Brom’s Europa League dream with Everton now seven points clear.

When Manchester United won the League Cup, Ronald Koeman tweeted it was good news for Everton. It was presumptious at the time.

But today the Toffees extinguished any hope Albion had of leapfrogging them into seventh and qualifying for a rare European tour.

Only one place separates these two teams and yet the gulf between them was staggering.

Romelu Lukaku drew level with Harry Kane in the race for the Premier League's golden boot as Everton coasted against West Brom for their fifth straight home Premier League win.

The Belgian followed up first-half goals from Kevin Mirallas and Morgan Schneiderlin with a 19th of the campaign, and a seventh in his last five, to secure a 3-0 victory over the Baggies.

Ronald Koeman's side have now not dropped a point at Goodison Park since a loss to rivals Liverpool prior to Christmas after this success over a West Brom team only one place beneath them in the table, but a class below here.

Telegraph

Considering the rest of Everton’s season was being rendered as pointless at the start of January, Ronald Koeman has done a fine job in making it seem like it might be relevant after all.

This was Everton’s sixth league victory of 2017, one that surely means they will finish no lower than seventh. Should they defeat relegation threatened Hull City at home next weekend, the discussion will be around whether next season will involve European football.

Romelu Lukaku’s form has ignited in that time, he is close to signing a new five-year contract and he scored again here, becoming the league’s joint top scorer with 19 goals – a record for Everton in the Premier League era. He now has an overall total of 20 and that means he is also the first Everton player to reach that landmark in three successive years since the great Bob Latchford in the late seventies.
