Steven Reid aims to be back in full training by the start of pre-season training as he battles back from an ankle injury.

The former Republic of Ireland international is in rehabilitation after undergoing surgery on the ankle he injured during Albion’s 1-0 victory against Chelsea in March.

Reid has already been on the training field with Albion’s physios and is preparing for a busy couple of weeks before jetting off on holiday.

"I'm in this week and next week to do some rehab and then hopefully after next week I'll be able to get away on holiday, where I'll be looking to have a rest," said Reid.

"I'll then do some more rehab when I get back and then hopefully I'll be up and running for the first week of pre-season in July.

"Come the summertime it's nice to get the holidays out the way, but it can become a bit boring when there's no footy going on.

"I'm hoping that I'll be up and running for when the new head coach gets in so I can begin looking to impress him.

"I'm still a couple of weeks away from being able to enter full training.

"I've been running now for the last couple of weeks, but now I need to start twisting and turning on it before we look to start with a football.

"It will be right for the first day of pre-season."
