Robbo wants out

Paul Robinson has handed in a shock transfer request after admitting he can’t face another season in the Championship.  The 30-year-old left-back has been involved in 35 of Albion’s 38 Premier League games this season, and despite being a major part of the worst defence in the division, believes he has proved himself in the top flight.

“I can’t face playing in the Championship again and I feel I’ve proved myself in the Premier League,” the former Watford man said.

“I’ve always given 100 per cent for West Brom but I feel I need to be playing in the top-flight every week.

“If a chance became available for me I would like to take it. I’ve spoken to the manager and he understands my position.”

Robinson’s transfer request is not his first after he tried to manoeuvre a deal after the Baggies lost in the 2006 Play-Off Final but failed a medical at Wigan.  Now Bolton boss, Gary Megson, who brought Robinson to the club, is expected to be interested in capturing his signature once again.
